Marianello Spiaggia: The Story Behind the Shot
Welcome to the sixth article in my "The Story Behind the Shot" series that introduced the backstory to some of my NFT photos.
Marianello Spiaggia (beach) is located just outside the city of Licata on the central west coast of Sicily. My wife and I were in Licata with some friends one day, enjoying the city. This was the first place I was able to find a gelato shop that offered gluten-free brioche so I could have the famous Sicilian “ice cream sandwich.” At the end of the day, we decided to drive along the coastal road to get away from the downtown port area and find some sand.
At first glance, this is just another sunny day at the beach, but for me, this photo holds a special significance. This was the first time I ever dipped my toes into the Mediterranean Sea. I’m really glad I was able to capture this day in a beautiful way that gave me that deep connection to my new home here in Italy. Once you have your bare feet in the sea, it becomes a part of your experiences forever.
This photo was taken in May 2019, my first spring on the island. It’s an 8MP photo taken with an iPhone 6.
Also, I am happy to announce that I have finally received my permit of stay, so you can expect to see more photos of Italy from me for many years to come!
